Welcome to the Sultanate of Oman
Oman is situated on the southeast coast of the Arabian Peninsula, and boasts a strategically significant geographic location at the center of the trade routes of the east and west, thus offering easy access to markets in the Middle East, Africa and South East Asia. Capitalizing on the geographic advantage, Oman has built several important ports in order to achieve efficient connectivity with global markets. Port Salalah, for instance has garnered an admirable reputation as one of the region’s most efficient ports. Meanwhile, Sohar Port is recognized for its advanced facilities that are capable of catering to the world’s largest container ships. This port also serves both as a gateway for international trade in Oman and a hub for container shipping connections. The Port of Duqm is envisioned as a versatile hub for trade, transport, fishing and tourism by the year 2020.
Under the prosperous leadership of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said, the Sultanate has pursued an economic policy based on market forces, with a strong emphasis on the role of the private sector as a generator of economic activities and employment. The State Basic Law provides solid assurances that freedom of economic activity is the foundation of prosperity, and that private property enjoys full protection under the law. A solid and comprehensive legal framework and well developed physical infrastructure facilities have created a conducive environment for investment.
